The Challenge Keep your eyes on the road while enhancing your cycling experience.

Cycling accidents often stem from distractions caused by auditory alerts or visual stimuli. Many cyclists resort to mounting cell phones or bike computers onto their handlebars to access essential information, occasionally complementing these devices with a smartwatch for additional data relay.

However, this accessibility poses a significant safety concern, as riders must divert their gaze downward to view real-time information, similar to the dangers of texting while driving. The inherent risk of this setup emphasizes the need for a safer alternative where vital information is seamlessly integrated into the rider’s field of vision, eliminating the need for frequent glances down at the handlebars.

Design Proposal Glasses to display information, replacing handlebar gadgets.

Equipping cyclists with a headwear device, such as augmented reality glasses or sunglasses, enables them to access real-time updates and gather essential fitness data throughout their journey. This includes monitoring pace, health statistics, speed, and power output.

By positioning the functions typically found on a bike computer directly in the cyclist’s line of sight, rather than below it on the handlebars, safety is significantly increased as the need to glance downward during the ride is eliminated.

The increasing adoption of Augmented Reality glasses, particularly within road and mountain biking communities, presents a largely untapped potential. This integration offers not only improved safety but also heightened efficiency, potentially attracting more individuals to the cycling realm.

These glasses feature a lightweight design and expansive lenses to ensure comfort and deliver a fully immersive augmented reality experience. Their interoperability features facilitate seamless connection with the rider’s Bluetooth devices, enabling the display of crucial messages, weather updates, and fitness metrics along the journey.

Moreover, the customization options allow users to tailor the displayed information according to their preferences. For instance, a leisure ride in the park may not require live heart rate and RPMs, and you may not want to see email updates as you are in the middle of a race.

Concept Resolution Wearable technology, displaying all necessary info for cycling.

These AR glasses offer a multifaceted solution to riders, particularly in increasing safety and enriching the cycling experience. During their daily commute, users benefit from real-time access to critical information such as the current time, traffic updates, and essential messages.

As they navigate their route, whether it be to work or during recreational rides, the glasses dynamically adapt to display important metrics tailored to their journey. These metrics encompass a range of data including directions, heart rate, power output, speed, and average pace. This changes the game for bike information displays, as each user can customize their screen to display what is most important to them, at each time of the day

This innovative approach revolutionizes the cycling experience by empowering users to personalize their display according to their unique preferences and the specific demands of each moment throughout the day.
